Allen, Lyon County Kansas, Thursday Morning

January 5, 1911

John B. Tucker.

John B. tucker was born in Lorain County, Ohio, April 14, 1877 and died December 27, 1910 at Alliance, Nebraska.  At the time of his death he was 33 years 8 months and 13 days of age.  Death came to him as a result of a sudden accident in the prime of manhood and strength.  On Christmas Day, at 5 o’clock in the afternoon, while working on the top of a large railroad engine in the round house at Alliance he lost his footing and fell to the pavement.  He was cared for at once by capable doctors, but never regained consciousness, but passed into the great beyond on the following Tuesday evening at 6 o’clock.  When about eighteen years of age John came with his parents from Ohio to Kansas, and for a number of years lived in and around Allen.  He was married at Emporia, Kansas to Miss Emma Kirkland, on December 22, 1898.  To this union was born three children the oldest of whom died in infancy.
Mr. Tucker leaves his wife and two children, his father, one brother and one sister, numerous other relatives and acquaintances, who will miss him and will be saddened by his departure.
Appropriate funeral services were held in the M.E. church in Allen, on Saturday morning at 10 o’clock conducted by Rev. Keast assisted by Rev. Conrad.  Interment to be made in the Allen cemetery.  Thus again we are reminded that even in the very strength and manhood of life we are still in the midst of death.
The bereaved relatives and friends have the sincere sympathy of the whole community.
