Alice Dawes was born in Hunterton county, N.J. on July 18, 1809. Departed this life Feb. 18, 1898.
  At the age of 22 she was united in marriage to S.K. Stevenson, also a native of N.J.  By this union 5 children were born, 2 boys and 3 girls.  In 1849 they immigrated to Illinois where both sons and husband passed away. Mrs. G. N. Young with whom she has resided for the past 23, years, Mrs. Ella Schooley, of Florida and Mrs. Eliza True of California still survive her.
  The funeral services were conducted at the residence Friday afternoon by Rev. Lane and the internment made in the Allen cemetery.
