Hobart Brisco Dead

  The passing of one of the native sons of North Lyon county occurred last week, when Hobart Brisco, formerly of Allen, died.
  Hobart G. Brisco was born in Allen and lived there until manhood.  His father Richard Brisco, came to Allen when the town was platted.  He was a carpenter and builder and built some of Allen’s first homes and store buildings.  He afterward engaged in the furniture and undertaking business which he conducted for many years.  He sold out his business here and he and his son, Hobart and wife, moved to Florida.
  In Florida Hobart engaged in the fishing business and became well-to-do financially, but his health failed and he contracted tuberculosis.  He went to a sanatorium where he stayed for about 2 years until his death.
  Hobart was a young man of industrious habits and always busy at some kind of work.  His father, who was Civil War veteran, died in Florida about a year ago.
  Many of Hobart’s boyhood friends attended the funeral at the M.E. church last Wednesday, Oct. 3.
  Rev. Patton delivered a very fine sermon and the casket was covered with many flowers.  The singers were Mrs. Patton, Mrs. Layton, Mrs. Leavell and Chas. Showalter.  He was laid to rest in the Allen cemetery beside his brother, McKinley who died in a training camp in Texas during the World War.

Obituary

  Hobart Garrett Brisco was born in Allen, Kansas, on August 23, 1896.  After his marriage to Miss Myrtle Godgson, of Allen, May 16, 1916, at Council Grove, [Kansas] he went to St. Cloud, Florida to make his home.  He also resided at Caval, Florida.
  It was in the Southland that he departed from this life last Saturday morning, September 29 at the age of 32 years.
  He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Myrtle Brisco, of Florida, and two daughters, Helen and Hazel; by his mother Mrs. E. Dalrymple, of Niotaze, Kansas; three sisters, Mrs. L.B. Houghn, of Niotaze, Kans., Mrs. C.M. Lamb, of Spangle, Wash., Miss Lillie Brisco, of Tampa Fla. and one brother, Dewey Brisco of Niotaze, Kans.
  Other relatives are: two nieces, Emmie and Gertrude Haughn, of Niotaze, Kans., also three nephews, Oscar, Harold and Ledhart Houghn, of Niotaze, Kansas.
